About Wild Ground
Passion Is My Fuel
I'm Richard Parkinson, the owner and operator of Wild Ground, established in 2015 through a passion for invasive plants, natural materials, and traditional skills to help enhance, restore and manage landscapes.
Based in a beautiful rural parish in Nottinghamshire, England, and just a stone's throw from the Peak District, my inspiration to work with nature has inspired a career and a commitment to gain professional NPTC qualifications and learn traditional crafts from local craftsmen and women.
My biggest passion is the fascination and control of invasive plants having encountered a towering stand of Giant Hogweed while mowing a customers lawn right back at the creation of the business, resulting in a marathon internet session to identify the plant. During this process, I discovered other invasives, including my new favourite plants, Japanese Knotweed and Bamboo.
I now specialise in the control of these fascinating, beautiful, but troublesome plants having gained the relevant professional land-based skills and knowledge-based qualifications.
Another passion that I have developed is generating content engaging exposure of garden products and machinery.
I regularly collaborate with manufacturers and retailers to use my professional expertise combined with my photography and video skills to develop product reviews, real-world content and demonstrations for various social media platforms and printed media.
It's hard to put my passion for the industry and my customer's premises into written word and photographs, but hand on heart, it fuels my work.
